Loyal Irvine Companies Rewarded with Incentives for Keeping Overnight Business Meetings in City


Irvine, Calif., - Destination Irvine is rewarding loyal local companies for keeping their overnight business meetings in Irvine with the newly launched Irvine Business-to-Business Loyalty Program which offers $10,000 incentives companies can use to recognize their valuable employees.

"Participation is simple, local companies just need to contact Destination Irvine when planning their company meeting with overnight stays," said Trisha Edmonds, Director of Sales, Destination Irvine. "Each qualified meeting then receives 10 points for every day the meeting is held. At the end of the promotional period, the three companies with the most points will be able to select an incentive package valued at $10,000!"

To qualify local companies must:

• Book a minimum of 60 room nights over at least two consecutive nights
• Work with Destination Irvine to develop and distribute the lead
• Hold a meeting in one of Irvine's 14 hotels
• Book a new meeting and earn points based on signed contract

Companies can also receive bonus points for meetings booked during soft or need periods, for 60 room nights or more and for every five meetings booked.

An annual drawing will be held based on earned points; eligible companies will be able to select one of three major incentive packages to be extended to their employees for recognition, reward, performance incentives and/or workplace/team development.

Major incentive packages include a company party for employees at an Irvine hotel, 100 personal products or services from Irvine businesses, or 365 lunch certificates from Irvine restaurants. Each incentive package is valued at $10,000.

"The payoff is that everyone wins," added Edmonds. "In addition to the annual drawing, we'll also be holding a monthly drawing for eligible companies featuring packages of lesser value."

Meetings contribute to the economy, according to an Economic Significance Study conducted by PwC US, the meetings industry's direct contributions to the U.S. economy include:

• $263 billion in spending
• 1.7million U.S. jobs
• $106 billion contribution to GDP
• $14.3billion federal tax revenue
• $11.3billion state and local tax revenue
• $60 billion in U.S. labor income

Locally, in 2012, visitors spent $510 million on accommodations, dining, arts, entertainment, recreation, shopping and transportation. The Irvine tourism industry supports approximately 5,340 jobs and is responsible for adding $186 million in wages. In addition, the local tourism industry contributes $27.4 million in local and state taxes.

Irvine hotels include: Atrium Hotel, Candlewood Suites, Courtyard by Marriott - Irvine Airport, DoubleTree by Hilton - Irvine Spectrum, Embassy Suites Irvine, Extended Stay America - Irvine Spectrum, Hilton Irvine, Hotel Irvine Jamboree Center, Irvine Marriott, LaQuinta Inn & Suites - Irvine Spectrum, Residence Inn by Marriott - Irvine Airport, Residence Inn by Marriott - Irvine Spectrum, Spring Hill Suites, and Wyndham Irvine - Orange County Airport.

The Business-to-Business Loyalty Program officially kicks off on January 15, 2014 when Destination Irvine along with their hotel partners conduct a two-day blitz throughout the city visiting approximately 200 businesses.
