Irvine, Calif. May 2016 - Destination Irvine released statistics from the 2015 Visitor Impact report conducted specifically for Irvine. In 2015, traveler expenditures for Irvine came to an estimated $589 million, an increase of 13 percent over 2014, far exceeding the rate of growth in preceding years with lodging sales in Irvine growing by 20.8 percent. The travel industry contributed $33 million in local and state taxes.

Tourism has the ability to empower local communities by driving economic development and revitalization; making the destination a better place to both live and work." said Visit California President and CEO Caroline Beteta.

The travel industry supported 5,790 Irvine jobs and was responsible for adding $209 million in wages to the local economy.

It is estimated that without visitor spending, resident households in Irvine would each pay $390 more a year in state and local taxes.
