Are You Ready for Some Football?

Bar8 Lounge, one of Irvine's most popular Happy Hour destinations, is ready for you.

Hyatt Irvine

All football season long,  Bar8 Lounge, in the Hyatt Regency Irvine, will feature the Punt, Pass and Sip promotion during the game. There will be drink specials, gridiron goodies, and five, high-definition screens to watch every play.

Since Buffalo wings and beer are a crucial part of any football watching experience, I decided that I should personally try every kind on the menu for the benefit of Destination Irvine readers.

What can I say? I'm a giver.

I began my wing journey with a bit of a surprise; the Thai Chili marinated wings are a long way from the standard Buffalo variety. Served with pickled Asian veggies, these little babies offer a flavor explosion of ginger, sesame and wasabi. It's a yummy twist for foodies who want to mix it up a little.

But I'm a traditionalist. A Midwestern born football fan who likes her beer cold and her wings smoking hot.

So I decided to take the Bar8 challenge and run the gauntlet of their Buffalo wing selections; Burning, Fiery and Violent.

Fear not. These wings do not require a warning label and are suitable for all who love the spicy little suckers. But after a few samples in the "Fiery and Violent" range, a sip of my Samuel Adams Oktoberfest Beer felt like a taking a plunge in the pool on a hot summer's day. Pure refreshment.

If you prefer a burger with your ballgame, take advantage of the Burger and Brew promotion running through the month of October. For $20 you can enjoy a farm-raised Meyers Natural Angus Burger topped with aged cheddar and a side of perfectly crisp fries and a 20 oz Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer to wash it down.

Bar8 is the place to feed your football craving and satisfy your hunger at the same time.
