Irvine Park Railroad

For many children, the biggest highlights of the Eggstravanza are the egg hunts which begin daily at 10am and continue on the half hour through 4:30pm. Tickets for the hunts, as well as the many activities at the Eggstravganza, are available for purchase at the Irvine Railroad ticket counter (a little yellow shack behind the train station) which can be exchanged for wrist bands denoting the time of your child's hunt. Hunts are broken up into age groups so the little tots don't have to compete with the bigger kids (up to age 12) to find plastic eggs filled with candy and prizes. The egg hunts are very popular so plan on arriving early, especially on weekends.

Irvine Regional Park

Beyond the Eggstravagnza,. Irvine Regional Park offers a multitude of activities to be enjoyed on the park's 477 acres. Popular activities include hiking, playing on fields and playgrounds, horseback and pony rides, water bikes, surrey bike rentals, and visiting the Orange County Zoo.  Be sure to pack a picnic in order experience the park as it has been enjoyed by generations, first beginning with the German colonists that settled in Anaheim back in 1857.

If you happen upon Irvine Park during fall or winter, be sure to come back with the kids to experience the Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Train. Both events have become Orange Country classics, with train rides always serving as event centerpieces. The pumpkin patch features hay rides, john deer tractor racers for the little ones, and of course, plenty of pumpkins. For Christmas, children depart from the station lit in holiday lights as they head to the North Pole for pictures and a visit with Santa before heading back through the magical tunnel of lights. All seasonal events are first-rate but with Southern California's dreamy weather and the park's natural beauty as well as a multitude of activities to enjoy, there is no bad time to visit.
