Kid-Friendly Attractions & Things to Do

CVB Tip

The Main Beach at Laguna Beach just outside of Irvine is one of the most family-friendly beaches in Southern California, with a playground, clean bathrooms and outdoor showers just off the beach.

It's an interesting fact that the best business-friendly cities are sometimes the best kid-friendly destinations, and Irvine definitely fits that bill.

It only stands to reason: Irvine is home to some 100 national and international company headquarters, those businesses have employees with families, and cities designed with families in mind are great when you're traveling with kids.

Wherever you are in Irvine, there's a park or playground literally minutes away. Our shopping malls sport bowling alleys and open-air ice-skating, there are carousels around every corner and even the Steelhead Brewing Company offers small-batch root beer, letting kids in on the microbrew action with mom and dad.

Irvine offers plenty of fun-focused venues for kids, from Pretend City Children's Museum, where little ones put on their professional hats for an imaginary excursion into the working world, to bowling alleys, K1 Speed Go Kart Racing and even a skate park (if your kids are traveling with their boards and helmets!).

Of course, Irvine is also in the center of Orange County, which means quick access to beaches and some of the country's most popular amusement parks, but here's something you may not have thought about:

Disneyland is 20 minutes from Irvine — ranked by the FBI as "America's Safest Big City" seven years running — and 30 minutes from Los Angeles County.

Now... Still looking for a kid-friendly gateway to Southern California? You've found it in Irvine.
