Universities in Irvine

CVB Tip

If you're touring campuses with your college-bound high schooler, Irvine is a great "home base" for checking out UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton plus SDSU, UCLA, UCSB, Cal Poly and other colleges between San Diego and San Luis Obispo via rail from Irvine Station.

Today's City of Irvine was built on education — literally planned around the University of California, Irvine campus carved from what was once the Irvine Ranch. So it's no surprise that the area is still one of the country's richest in terms of colleges, universities and higher education.

In fact, there are more than 100 institutes of higher education, both public and private, in and around Irvine, including California State University, Fullerton, community colleges, private universities and specialty schools for advanced degrees.

For visitors, Irvine's campuses are key players in creating a culture rich with visual and performing arts as well as diverse community events. Many of our colleges and universities also offer premium space for meetings and groups, as well as a wide range of experts and speakers to draw on to enhance any event.
