Destination Irvine, the city's official tourism and business marketing bureau, has been selected a Smart Meetings Magazine readers choice award. The monthly publication's readers selected the agency as one of the winners of the 8th Annual Platinum Choice Award.
The magazine, which serves professionals in the meeting- and convention-planning industry, named 60 convention and visitor bureaus (CVBs) to the 2011 Platinum Choice Awards. Honorees are recognized for commitment to model standards across all categories, including quality of facilities, amenities, guest services, technical support, meeting space and ambience.
"Our 2011 winners set the bar high in every way, not the least of which is having staff with a positive, can-do attitude that allows them to exceed expectations across the board," said Marin Bright, founder and publisher of Smart Meetings magazine.
Typically, the Platinum Awards have recognized only hotels and resorts. This is the first year that the magazine added a category to honor CVBs for excellence in service and amenities, as well. The awards include destinations, agencies, resorts and facilities in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean Isalnds.
"Destination Irvine is just one of more than 1,000 properties and organizations that qualify for this acknowledgment," said Michelle Carlen, director of sales, Destination Irvine. "We are honored to be among only 60 CVBs nationwide to receive this prestigious award."
Other Orange County agencies that earned the 2011 Platinum Choice Award are the Anaheim/Orange County Visitors and Convention Bureau and Visit Newport Beach. A complete list of the 2011 Platinum Choice Award winners can be found at the Smart Meetings website.
