With just over five months until the Rose Parade presented by Honda on January 1, 2016, volunteer sign up is now open for float decorating. Those who want to be a part of the festivities can chose a date within the schedule to help with dry or floral decoration at one of two locations.
The Destination Irvine float, "Innovation Rocks!" is located at the Rosemont Pavilion, 700 Seco Street, Pasadena (just south of the Rose Bowl). Those wishing to help decorate the Irvine float can request to do so in the comment section of the volunteer form, however, there are no guarantees that specific requests will be honored.
"Volunteering to help decorate the Rose Parade float is a great opportunity for Irvine schools, organizations and social groups to show their civic pride," said Linda DiMario, Vice President, Economic Development & Tourism, Irvine Chamber of Commerce. "Volunteering can also be a fun activity for team building, a retreat or outing."
"Innovations Rocks," features a colorful floral lab scene with animated gears and test tubes along with a whimsical Peter the Anteater as a scientist. The float celebrates Irvine's global science and technology reputation and the "adventure" of innovation and leverages the theme of the 2016 Rose Parade, "Find Your Adventure."
