In Honor Of National Grandparents' Day Destination Irvine Announces Hotel Deals
Perfect for a Trip with the Grandkids

Irvine, Calif. September 1, 2011 - The 32th anniversary of National Grandparents Day is September 11, to honor those affectionately called Grandma, Mawmaw, Granddad and Poppa, Irvine hotels have come together to offer specials and discounts ranging from free meals to attraction passes and shopping gift cards (offers valid through 2011).

"More and more grandparents are traveling with their grandkids," said Wendy Haase, Director Tourism Marketing, Destination Irvine. "Irvine's affordability, recognition as ‘America's Safest Big City,' along with its close proximity to all Orange County has to offer make it an attractive destination for a family vacation."
According to the U.S. Travel Industry Association, an estimated 5 million family vacations a year in the United States span three generations, with grandparents often paying the bill.

In 1978, the resolution declaring National Grandparents' Day as the first Sunday after Labor Day, was signed into law by President Jimmy Carter.
