The beginning of the New Year signals the start of an ambitious project to capture the life and times of Orange County in images for the entire year of 2017.

OC Photo 2017 is an independent, not for profit project organized by local photo enthusiasts. Our initial goal is to help build connections between photographers, residents, visitors, cities, museums and galleries, publications, businesses, event organizers, historic sites and more through the images contributed to the project.

Organized by Andrew Schmidt, project manager of the well-received "A Slice of Orange" project in 2014, and an enthusiastic and knowledgeable admin committee, the project has more than 30 photographers on board to start the venture.

The project will be promoted primarily through social media, including Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, with its "home base" on Facebook.

An ongoing email campaign has already provided connections with some Orange County organizations and city visitor bureaus. Kevin Staniec at the City of Irvine Community Services has expressed his interest in the project with an eye toward an exhibit in the Gallery at the Orange County Great Park after the project concludes.
