The average amount spent per customer transaction at Irvine-area restaurants grew to $31 for the metro area in the winter of last year, 2% higher than the average for the rest of the year.

Topping the list is a location of the Slapfish chain. Located at 4249 Campus Drive, B148 in University Town Center, it's the highest-rated fish restaurant in Irvine, boasting four stars out of 713 reviews on Yelp.

2. California Fish Grill

Next up is Lower Peters Canyon's California Fish Grill, a member of the California chain at 13780 Jamboree Road. With four stars out of 527 reviews on Yelp, the spot to score seafood, fish and chips and tacos has proved to be a local favorite.

3. Fish District

The Woodbury's Fish District, at 6278 Irvine Blvd., is another top choice. Yelpers give the spot to score seafood, fish and chips and poke four stars out of 430 reviews.
