Irvine Chamber Visitors Bureau Gears Up for Travel Media Showcase
Unique Event will Spotlight the Destination to Industry Journalists & Professionals
This month the Irvine Chamber Visitors Bureau (ICVB) welcomes the 11th Annual Travel Media
Showcase (TMS) September 21-24, an exclusive industry event that will bring travel journalists
and public relations professionals from across the U.S. and Canada to Irvine.
The event provides the ICVB with an opportunity to meet one-on-one with national travel media
representatives and to network with industry peers.
"Travel Media Showcase is a chance for Irvine to share its story and make a positive impression
on influencers in the travel and tourism industry," said Wendy Haase, Director of Tourism
Marketing, Irvine Chamber Visitors Bureau. "In return, we hope to garner national media
attention and city ambassadors."
Who is Coming?
Journalist representation includes editors, staff and freelance travel writers, magazine and
newspaper travel writers, broadcast travel journalists, as well as Internet travel journalists. This
year's attendees represent AAA Home & Away, Business Traveler Magazine, Canadian Traveller,
Family Travel Forum, Southern California Meetings + Events Magazine, Sunset and Westways.
Those representing the travel industry include public relations directors of convention and visitors
bureaus, domestic and international destination tourism offices, major hotel chains, airlines,
cruise lines, as well as entertainment attractions and gaming venues. Irvine will welcome fellow
Orange County Tourism Council partners, along with regional and national destinations including
Atlantic City Tourism Authority, Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau, Idaho Division of
Tourism, Nevada Commission on Tourism, Tourism Quebec and Virginia Beach Convention &

In between attending the Marketplace, where journalists and exhibitors meet one-on-one during
prescheduled appointments, TMS attendees will have plenty of time to enjoy all that Irvine has to
Opening night the Improv and the YardHouse Irvine Spectrum welcome everyone with a
reception and dinner followed by dessert and coffee at Pretend City Children's Museum.
Wednesday afternoon attendees will have a choice of participating in one of four Familiarization
(FAM) Tours; itineraries include the city's history and art, nature, shopping and the beach
communities of Laguna and Newport. The day will conclude at Kia Headquarters where everyone
will enjoy a "Taste of Irvine" as 25 area restaurants offer samplings of their menus.
On Thursday afternoon, the Irvine Spectrum Center will kick off their Annual Style Week Orange
County®, with a media preview luncheon and fashion show featuring local designers.
Journalists will also have opportunities to experience Orange County and the region with pre and
post FAM Tours hosted by California Limousines, Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce &
Visitors Bureau, the District at Tustin Legacy, Huntington Beach Marketing & Visitors Bureau, OC Wildlife and Beach Tour, the Orange County Great Park, South Coast Plaza and the
Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau.
