John Wayne Airport Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week; Unveils Collectible Trading Card
As part of National Travel and Tourism Week and in conjunction with U.S. Travel Rally Day, John Wayne Airport (JWA) will debut its first ever trading card. The "SNA" card reflects JWA's official airport code and is part of the North American Airport Collectors SeriesTM, which was created to offer aviation enthusiasts a unique collectible to commemorate their travels through U.S. and Canadian airports.
On Tuesday, May 5, JWA employees will distribute the new SNA trading card to passengers on selected flights. Two airports, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Salt Lake City, will hand out their own trading cards to passengers arriving from Orange County. JWA is encouraging passengers to take pictures of themselves with their SNA trading card and share them on social media using #AirportCards.
Orange County is the perfect place to highlight National Travel and Tourism Week," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Todd Spitzer. He continued, "Our community welcomes a remarkable 42 million visitors annually, who spend $7.75 billion and help support 160,000 jobs - tourism is a powerful and important engine that helps drive Orange County's economy."
The SNA trading card offers geographic information along with facts and figures dating back to the beginning of aviation in Orange County. John Wayne Airport, along with other North American airports (35 to date), chose to participate in this initiative as a way to highlight their unique aviation history and the benefits they provide to their communities.
Orange County has a long, colorful aviation history and I'm delighted we can share that with passengers through the trading card program," commented Second District Supervisor Michelle Steel. "JWA runs so smoothly, it's easy to forget that it is one of the busiest airports in the country, serving more than nine million passengers per year to over 20 nonstop destinations."
JWA's Customer Relations Assistants and "red coat" Ambassadors will continue to hand out the new trading cards in the Riley Terminal throughout National Travel and Tourism Week. In the future, the cards will be available at the Information Booths in all three baggage claim areas.
