Irvine was built on innovation.

Back in the early 1960’s, the Irvine Company’s forward-thinking urban planners imagined the ultimate place to live. Their Master Plan was the blueprint for the city of Irvine; an intentionally designed metropolis created to meet the needs of the people who live and work there.

The Marriott Irvine Spectrum, opening December 2017, is a reflection of this spirit of innovation.

“We’re focusing on fresh ideas, fresh concepts and fresh thinking,” says General Manager Chris Harrison who brings his passion for translating the needs of today’s business traveler into hotel design. The Marriott Irvine Spectrum will be a prototype hotel for the chain. New ideas will be developed and tried for the first time, making it a test lab for Marriott innovation.

Some of those new ideas are found in the 50 Extended Stay suites which combine the comfort of a private residence with resort luxuries like floor-to-ceiling corner views, full connectivity and streaming capability, and a complete kitchen with stainless steel appliances.

The 2,000 square ft. Fitness Center breaks the mold from the traditional, windowless gym with a two-stories of open space and an abundance of natural light.Yoga and Spin classes make it easy for guests to maintain their fitness program while away from home.

All throughout Marriott Irvine Spectrum, the fresh “Inside Out” concept expands the boundaries of the traditional hotel model. By replacing walls with windows, the hotel embraces the moderate southern California climate and invites the outside in. Natural surfaces of warm woods and stone are bathed in ambient light, making a seamless transition from the interior to the outside spaces.

Even with its focus on the future, the Marriott Irvine Spectrum was designed to embrace the heritage of the area’s past.

Irvine Valencia Orange Crate LabelLong before the city was born, Irvine was home to a vast, 100,000-acre ranch that the Irvine family cultivated for generations. In its prime, The Irvine Ranch was one of the largest, privately owned agricultural operations in California. It's lima beans fed troops in World War I and its prized Valencia oranges were shipped all over the world.

Irvine’s farming roots are celebrated in Heirloom, the Marriott Irvine Spectrum’s full-service, three-meal restaurant where produce is the star. Local producers like Irvine’s own Tanaka Farms will be providing fresh fruits and vegetables. Lunches will be light, fresh and affordable. Dinner will feature inventive California cuisine in a relaxing, elevated farmhouse setting.

Guests can relax with a refreshing Honeysuckle Cocktail or a locally-crafted beer and imagine what life was like when Irvine was a sprawling ranch, covered in bean fields and grazing cattle. No other place in Irvine offers such a spectacular view.

Whether it’s a home-away-from home for tech-savvy travelers or a secret getaway for locals, the new Marriott Irvine Spectrum is poised to be the gathering place for Irvine’s next generation.
