Winterfest is back and better than ever,  bringing more chills and thrills to Orange County than ever before. The festival takes place now through January 7, 2018 at the OC Fairgrounds and features a nice blend of  snow-themed fun mixed with carnival classics. Hours vary so check the WinterfestOC website before you go.

Snow Much Fun!

Ice Skating at Winterfest

Winterfest is home to Southern California's largest outdoor ice rink. If you have your own skates, you are welcome to bring them but rental skates are included in with a paid ice skating ticket.  After you skate your heart out head over to 150-foot Snowflake Summit- a tubing hill with eight lanes of icy fun. Over in Alpine Village there is a snow play area with fresh snow blown in daily (get there early to enjoy the snow because things tend to get icy as the day progresses) as well as a small hill ideal for younger kids.  Cap off all the snow play with holiday-themed food and drinks at the Slippery Slope Ski Lodge.

But wait- there's more! Children will love the winter bounce houses, model train exhibit,  petting zoo, and an inflatable Snowmazing Maze. New for 2017 is the Festival of Lights, a walk through experience featuring a multitude of light displays representing 10 different themed lands.  The tunnel of lights is an excellent spot for photo ops.

Worlds Largest Ornament at Winterfest

Speaking of photo ops- make time to take pictures in front of the World's Largest Walk-Through Ornament, the  World's Largest Rocking Horse, the giant snow globe and during the nightly tree lighting. Keep the cameras out for the nightly holiday parade filled with festive characters and evening fireworks that take place during the tree lighting celebration at 5:30pm every day. Of course the ultimate photo op can be found at Santa and Mrs. Claus' Cabin where you can take a picture with the big man himself.

Carnival Thrills!

Carnival at Winterfest

A full-size carnival is awaiting fun seekers at Winterfest.  Ride tickets are $1 a piece (most rides are about 4 tickets) but discount packs are available. Rides include the zipper, carousel, Ferris wheel,  swings, and kamakazi as well as several rides for the younger bunch. Several carnival games are awaiting big winners as well.
