This year, we celebrate Helena Modjeska’s 179th birthday with various Shakespearean performances at her historic home. Madame Modjeska immigrated from Poland in the mid-1870’s to find new adventure in America. She settled back into the stage life where she was revered as one of the most famous Shakespearean actresses of the late Victorian era. After the performances, tour the historic house as docents share tales of yesteryear in the various rooms. Modjeska’s home, designed in 1888 by renowned New York architect Standford White, is one of the only two National Historic Landmarks in Orange County. Enjoy music and Polish treats, including famous Modjeskas candies, a caramel marshmallow that Madame Modjeska approved herself. Space is limited, please call to register.
