BACKGROUND: "Dusk till Dawn" goes against the grain of what we typically think of as landscape painting. Usually, an artist will create a sunlight-infused scene of colorful trees and flowers, things one would expect to see during the day. The paintings in this exhibit show the same subjects but in darkness or at the outer edges of the day. Images may be downloaded from the public Google Drive. Dedicated to the preservation and display of California art from the impressionist period (1890-1930), The Irvine Museum Collection was generously donated to UCI in November 2016. It's the largest single gift of art to the university, which has initiated the process of constructing a museum on campus.
